RS08 Unclothed

The following images are provided to show component detail and how the car is assembled. The central body section takes approximately 10 minutes to fit including all of its fasteners. The front and rear clips can be fitted (or removed) in less than a minute making access at the track a fairly simple affair when it comes to setup and making changes.

The engine is solid mounted using the same engine brackets as per the original bike installation. This Hayabusa sourced engine is fitted with a low profile wet sump which resst approximately 3 mm off the composite foam and fibreglass floor. Note the use of the Accusump accumulator which has proved very effective at preventing oil starvation under high cornering and braking G's without the complexity of  a dry sump system. Any motorcycle engine running in an enclosed body such as the SPEADS requires substantial oil cooling which is provided by a 3 pass, 50 row SETRAB oil radiator fitted in the right hand pod.

Note the use of the rear diagonal stay from the roll hoop assembly to the rear of the chassis to assist in meeting the FIA F3 load testing requirements of CAMS. The car is also fitted with a very hefty, locally fabricated aluminium rear tow hook and jacking assembly which projects beyond the rear of the bodywork.

Drive is taken via 530 series chain from the output sprocket out of the gearbox to the  Quaife ATB differential. Note that the engine and drive system are angled to enable equal length driveshafts. Reverse is now provided via a heavy duty starter motor engaging the output sprocket nut as required.
